A Back Garden Festival Wedding - Somerset // Anna + Simon
I cannot believe it's taken me so long to blog this wedding. This extravaganza of a day was a year ago now (give of take a day of 2 - Happy Anniversary you guys!!) and in truth has been one of my favourite weddings!! It really reflected this Anna and Simon, and you could see how hard they'd worked to put all those DIY details into the day. There was pom poms, streamers and festoon lighting hanging from the trees, a dress up station armed with costumes and lots of glitter, flowers everywhere, their adorable dog, a beautiful table set up with wedding pictures of previous generations' weddings and of loved ones who couldn't be there, outdoor games, glitter, human pyramids, ceilidh, a VW van cake complete with bride, groom and dog figures hanging out the windows, Anna's own brother's band, glitter and more dancing. It really was a feast for both the eyes and the senses and was an incredible day!
I recently caught up with this awesome pair at the wedding of their best friends Jodie and Simon (you can see the sneak from this equally incredible wedding here) and I don't think they realise even now how ace a day they pulled off when I told them that it's was one of my favourites! But it's so so lovely to shoot the weddings of friends of previous couples I've worked with where I know most the crowd and can see how everyone's doing!
Anna wore a beautiful beaded dress with capped sleeves which had a bit of a 1920's feel to it and added a simple flower crown to the mix. Simon wore a blue suit with bow tie and bear cufflinks (best cufflinks ever).
This day was so much fun to shoot and be a part of - so there are a fair few images below (to give respect where it's due!) so definitely one to have a scroll through if you're looking for some DIY wedding inspiration! Go on, get that cup of tea, beer, glass of wine (it is Tuesday evening after all)...
